3500 is not really high for a modern diesel. In fact that engine in the touareg revved to 4400rpm. I bet the ECU thinks the auto transmission is in Park, you guys should look at coding that out

3:48 so, I've seen these applied to trailer wiring only to fail later on. The problem with free-floating solder joints, even with heat shrink, is embrittlement from fatigue. Especially since these often use a Sn96 solder formulation that is really best used on rigid circuitry, like an ECU or a computer motherboard. The tried-and-true method for free-hanging wires in aerospace/automotive applications is the combination of properly applied crimp connects and heat shrink. This allows the individual strands in the wire to slip past each other right up to the crimp, reducing fatigue. These may be fine if you're embedding them all in a bundle and taping them off, as this relieves some strain, but I'd look at them before anything else should any technical issues arise.
With those solder tubes, you still need to twist the wires together, then heat till solder runs =) Otherwise they aren't held together well.

3:30 as with butt crimps in automotive use, you should slide the solder shrinky-dink up one wire, then combine and _twist_ the two separate wires together, crimp either side for a mechanical joint, _then_ heat that little sucker up and you shouldn't have an issue..... the problem usually with soldered wires in automotive use is, they fail, either by vibration causing the bond to crack or separate, and/or corrosion....but if you always twist two fresh wires together, you shouldn't ever have an issue.... I just wouldn't use them on a boat that sees salt 😅
