Backrooms Ending Explained

Mary was taken out of the backrooms she wasn’t put back in at the end like some spoilers said. That was just her duplicate the backrooms created at the end. I loved the movie I DID want more aggressive entities even the bacteria entity but I clearly see the direction they went, they wanted more sophisticated and fleshed out monsters. And I can’t wait to see the next installment

I was not expecting Bobby to get killed off so quickly, I knew he was probably going to be killed but dude had barely any screen time

Love how Clark claims to not be lonely, only to immediately move in with a bunch of monsters. ☠️

7:50 the woman with red hair I believe is suppose to be a replicate of Clark’s ex-wife…again the Backrooms pull from memories and reality. During the movie it shows a picture of Clark’s ex-wife (a white woman with red hair, and she was also studying to be a lawyer so it makes sense as to why she was wearing a suit) so I think this is an imitation of her from his memories.

Something that I want to point out (I hope some people read this), is that, the scene where Captain Clark eats Clark is a direct reference to Goya's Saturn Devouring His Son. And it makes perfect sense, Saturn devoured his children out of fear of losing control, here it's the same, the backrooms reclaiming Clark at the only moment he stopped belonging there, right when he was about to change

They're out of the backrooms at the end. When they're carrying her and set her down on her knees you see the threshold behind them with the backrooms in it. They were in standard

Mary's home got demolished by the same MRI company that made A sync and the portal to the backrooms. So that scene implies that they built the A sync building over her old home. So something strange is going on with that land. It's possible the backrooms goes back and forth across time as well. Maybe that's why Mary's mom went crazy. She wouldn't let her go out and covered all the windows. Her mom might have seen or knew something she couldn't explain.

I really wish they focused on Clark and his mental decline in the backrooms.

That mural that Clark's made was absolute cinema. Connecting his drawings directly to the cryptic wall art from Found Footage #1 was such a top-tier piece of environmental storytelling. It instantly builds this massive, eerie lore about who actually created those original drawings and how Clark fits into it all. Also, that scene where he hears Kat through the wall, but she can see right through it? Such a brilliant, high-IQ nod to video game development. It captures that exact glitch where a map's outer wall has no texture, letting you see the game world from the outside. Kane Pixels handles "no-clipping" in-universe so well.

We can assume Mary’s mother had dementia cause the scene where she was in the hospital/asylum was playing “everywhere at the end of time” which was a music album made to invoke what dementia feels like to the listener. I was so happy when I heard they included this albums music in the movie!

(Not spoiling) Holy shit, this movie legit scared TF outta me. ( you know what scene) Chiwetel Ejiofor absolutely KILLED IT! His acting really intensified the dread. I allowed my 9yo to go because he got me into the lore. Glad I watched KP YT backrooms show (his story) beforehand. I love slow burn horror & I enjoyed it. I hope a sequel covers his YT show to wrap up the confusion for others. My 9 yo said,." It wasn't scary, it was traumatizing "

The mom had paranoid schizophrenia- you could tell by her behavior and the med bottles in 1 scene

I’m still really sad we never saw the bacteria/lifeform in the movie. It would’ve been so cool to see it in the movie adaptation, but I see where they were going with it and it was excellent storytelling honestly

The biggest complaint for this film I keep hearing about is the ending. I am looking forward to checking it out for myself. I hope this movie does insanely well so we can get that tv series.

Went to the thursday night preview, it was packed! They were giving out free movie passes afterwards too, so im gonna go see it a 2nd time this weekend mwahaha.

I thought the commercial scene was funny, personally. The monster Captain Clark was terrifying and I liked the concept. Everything about this has so much potential! I’d love to see a house or scarezone at Halloween Horror Nights based on it. Maybe even a collab with Spirit Halloween, for things like costumes, decorations and animatronics. Not to mention what kind of cosplays people could do with this kind of concept.

My biggest complaint is how long that horrendous commercial lasted 😭

I find it odd we don't or didn't see more bugs in the backrooms. This living entity called the backrooms now knows what a fly is - so doesn't it now want to recreate bugs!?
