Another thing I picked up, Was the Backrooms seemed a bit small, as in, there wasn't this never ending labyrinth that we see in the web series. The room types and intensities change rather quickly as they ran through them. They were also very Specific to Clark's Memories and Experience's. Obviously, taking place in 1990, this would have been 6 years prior to the events of the Web series and ASYNC is realizing that there are doorways appearing that are outside of their control. I think this is why the Backrooms are so small and have a lot of specific things related to Clark. Maybe whoever is the nearest (geographically) to the opening is the one who influences it the most. Maybe it's the first person who enters that doorway that influences this... Maybe the openings are created because of certain people.. maybe the traumatized and deranged people are what the backrooms likes so it opens itself up to them... Maybe the Backrooms is influenced by THEM.. One thing is clear, the Backrooms hasn't had time to grow to the massive "Complex" that we see in the web series. Additionally, rather than a never ending complex to run through, they really emphasized the verticality and added layers of the backrooms with the idea that "It gets weirder the further down you go" If that's the case, the Lowest levels may be absolute hell. All that being said, I think the last image in the film is obviously a distorted version of Mary, that the backrooms is remembering. Similar to her own mother, she now has a copy of herself lost somewhere, not only in her own mind, but also in the backrooms itself. Was she imagining the whole life of being a therapist? her memories were very Backrooms-y with the Stacked furniture and her liminal space apartment.... is the events of the movie in the head of this weird distorted creeper version of Mary as she sits in her chair staring at the floor?
