for a sec i thought that the plot was that NOTHING of this movie was real and mary was js hallucinating everything

Clark sleeps inside his building which is why also it created a near perfect recreation of his store, the longer you stay there the better the backrooms gets at recreating things. Pirate Clark was created during his commercial but not so perfect so the more time goes by the better the rooms get. It's trying to create reality which is working in a way, The non movable still life's are people who haven't really been fully exposed but ones that had time to evolve and learn was pirate clark and the walkable still life's

I think the reason why it seemed confusing was and unfinished at the end is probably because they are doing it for the first time, they just want to make it simple so they could probably make a sequel
