Saw it last night with my Ma. I REALLY loved this movie. And love it or hate it, the fact that a 20 year old directed this movie is IMPRESSIVE! Kane did a PHENOMENAL job for his directoral debut at such a young age, and I’m proud of him, and hopefully one day I will be one of them as well. That’s my dream in life, to make movies, and I just turned 19 a couple weeks ago, so these recent movies are just wake up calls that I got to start WORKING on it!
Think of it this way: the Pirate is the manifestation of Clark’s dark side. When he snaps coincides with when he embraces and makes good with it. But after Mary gets through to him (by lashing out at him and saying what she felt towards her mother and getting this victory in finally getting through to someone), Clark’s attempt to reject his dark side results in his dark side rejecting and killing him. That’s why it turns on him. At least from a thematic level. On a lore level, I can’t help but feel that moment where Mary looks at the Pirate at the end of the chase and it almost seems sad indicates the copies have distorted versions of the originals memories and or personalities. In a weird way it wants her validation like real Clark did. That’s why it’s sad when she runs. They linger on her staring at it reaching for her in the gap for a little bit too long for it to mean nothing
People found it funny to see Clark sleeping in his store? I was on the other side of that. He's down so bad he spends the night at his business. That's heavy stuff.
Give me three movies and a show.
Basically the backrooms world is trying to recreate mirror reality based off memories of people who enter and objects/people it encounters. Unfortunately it has a hard time interpreting the data and creates a distorted world
Pirate Clark had me a lil spooked too 🤷🏽♂️
Your take on the MRI machines really blew me away. I liked the movie, now I LOVE the movie. I didn't realize that at all before.

Pirate Clark was one of the greatest monster creations I've ever seen. Original, incredibly well executed, and terrifying even in a fully lit room. So glad that wasn't spoiled for me.
Mary's mum was likely losing her mind because she also had access to the backrooms. You see that the MRI company are the ones that demolished their family home and built their own building on top. They probably found out about the backrooms entrance and wanted it for themselves. That also explains why her mum didn't want her going out of that room. After all, going through a door in the backrooms can result in something bad happening.
The ending being open-ended COULD be set-up for a sequel, but Kane Parsons saying in a couple interviews that he wants the movie to be up to interpretation makes me think that ending fits well with just one movie. I thought the ending was great for what the movie was actually trying to do.
The thing people need to also realize is that the Backrooms do not need memories from those who come in. It can also replicate things randomly from the real world as well like at the end where there are the missing persons posters of Kate and Robert along with the electric poles.
Clark was clearly abusing his wife , towards the end when pirate clark comes in his wife goes to hide in a corner, and the backrooms are literally a copy of the reality

I agree - there wasn't enough on the time between the therapist going to the furniture store and Clark being in the backrooms for a few weeks and somehow becoming the "controller" of the entities.
There was so many little things in this movie. Like the bird being near a branch that evidently fell into the backrooms. And the broken caveman in the nest of clothes
I loved this movie. That one scene with Clark talking about how he doesn't want to leave the backrooms actually made me cry dude. It felt like someone finally understood me and how I felt. This movie is just really good
What I like about this movie is the fact that you go from rooting for Clark and wanting him to succeed in his store and get a better life to being like “ok yea this dudes gotta go”
