Though Fight Club and Gone Girl are phenomenal films, I've just always been fascinated by style of this film. There's so much going on on a psychological level and lots of things that we need to unpack. John Doe is even hidden in a scene and there's lots of things to uncover. So join me as we breakdown the movie and talk about all the hidden details in it. title Ok so if youve been following these breakdowns for a while then youll know rain in films is something we often touch upon. Films like Blade Runner, The Batman and even Alien Romulus, they all use rain in a symbolic way. (12:55) Typically it represents the oppressive nature of somewhere with it beating down on the characters. In Se7en its no different with Rain being constant throughout. However the seventh day has the sun coming out which is when we learn whats going on. It not only showcases the truth being revealed but also how John Does reign is over. Shoutouts to Edward Doomington on reddit for pointing out how this also mirrors Dante's Inferno. That happens in the divine comedy which is a book that Somerset checks out at the library (27:03) In it we follow Dante and Virgil as they travel through the 9 circles of hell. These can be seen in the photocopy Somerset makes which gets some attention later on (29:10).

30:00 makes me think the bars might also represent the two men being locked into their fate together, with the deed already done

These vids are so well made. I find myself rewatching more heavy spoiler videos than any other content creator’s. Always learn something new as well.

So awesomely. Done. Poetic films with their symbolism matched with such an awesome, intriguing, entertaining review. You've done them on three of my favorite films. Fight Club, Se7en, and No Country for Old Men. You're awesome. I already know I'll end up rewatching these. Awesome analysis videos!!!!!!!! I LOVE your over analysis and just how thorough you are!!!!!!!! Thank you for the video!!!!!!!

One extra bit of trivia: the bit where Mills talks to Doe on the phone in Doe's apartment appeared in the trailer - but they also used a different actors voice to hide the reveal that it's Spacey.

So well done!

I may be incorrect, but I do believe that Fincher openly stated that though Mills was supposed to be injured, but with an ankle injury. Because of Pitt's injury, they changed the script to match his predicament, so he could film while healing. 😊

Another great thing that Fincher did was Mindhunter about the FBI, developing the part that goes after serial killers Behavioral science It got two seasons on Netflix and everyone has always wanted a third but I don’t think we’re gonna get it It’s incredibly well done and reminds me of this movie

I always found the most interesting character, by far, is Somerset. I’ve never really been all that interested in serial killer like some folks, but the horror of Doe gives Somerset a journey from giving up to keeping up the fight. Great vid, thanks!

31:32 The first time I have noticed this. That delivery guy is the doctor in Fight Club that tells Edward Norton "No you cannot die from insomnia" and suggests going to meetings.

The way Morgan Freeman looks at the pint glass with wine in it is my favorite scene of the movie.
