Wonderful breakdown! Really enjoyed it, especially after just having watched the film!
Watching Alien in theaters for the 45th anniversary last year was genuinely life changing
10:18 a cat character being played by several cats it's pretty standard for the movie industry, lots of cats can be trained to do one thing and most cat trainers have several similar looking cats that can do different tricks (like feeling comfortable being held by strangers, run on cue or my favorite: a cat that's able to sit all day in one place regardless of what's happening around him).
Ash is too calm explaining he broke quarantine its a nice touch having ripley be calm also makes ash seem more human
Best line in Alien franchise. And good life advice. This film is a gem in my opinion. Especially the extended version. Brilliant cast.
i love seeing these years-old reviews when I pop a video on to fall asleep to. much appreciated, still, two years later. ✊🏼
That shot at the beginning of the pilot in the seat always got me. Especially when the latest alien movies came out. The 30ft alien became 7 foot in the latest films.
Well done Paul! Clearly, I've subscribed ages ago - but watching this one was special as it remains in my top 10 favourite films of all time. Thanks dude.
The map you showed of Zeta Reticuli is the map drawn by Betty Hill, who was abducted and taken aboard an Eben vessel, Betty asked where they were from, an Eben brought up a map which was essentially a visualisation of their trade routes and frequently travelled paths. They asked if she knew where she was on the map, but she didn't and so she wouldn't know where they were in relation to us. Later on during / after hypnotic regression Betty was able to recall seeing the map and drew it as best she could remember. An astrologer named Marjorie Fish ended up seeing the map after reading the Hills book about the encounter iirc, and started to see if it fit any star systems we were familiar with. She created a 3d model of it and eventually found it to match an area of stars, focused on the Zeta Reticuli binary star system, she was able to plot our sun (up and right on the map, Sol) and the names of the other stars. Betty Hill was not an astronomer, and had no way of drawing this map unless she did actually see it. Bit of interesting back story to the map!
Great video!! I watched the film twice over this past weekend for the first time in well-over 40 years so it was almost like seeing it for the first time again 😎
That's awesome! My dad took me to see Alien when I was 6. It has stuck with me ever since. Then the next horror/sci -fi movie was The Thing. I saw both in the theater upon release and to this day have both movie posters hanging on my wall.
Crazy how old this movie is now but it still feels so fresh
Thank you very much for the Video
Excellent video, I never noticed a lot of these things even though I've watched Alien numerous times
I appreciate your very detailed assessment and explanation of this incredible film!
Fantastic job putting this together. You’re a patient, thorough man. Cheers!
Great video for an epic movie. My mom saw this in the theater when she was pregnant with me and told me she had to walk out when the chest buster scene happened - no one had ever seen anything like that in a movie and no one expected it either.
The fact that IGN gave it a 5.9 shows how out of touch they were! Alien: Isolation is regarded as one of the BEST Sci-Fi horror games w/ graphics and gameplay still holding up after 10 years!! The games was ahead of its time and still among the best compared to more recent games, which aren't that great. I'm definitely subscribing to you, great analyzation of this amazing classic film!
Paul, in the middle of my annual Alien fanboy phase & just completed Alien Isolation (and the DLCs), and still wanted more. So glad I ran across your video here. Well done & nicely scripted & edited. I remember as a kid in the late 70s, K-Mart sold these toy eggs I guess an alien inside them. For kids! I hadn't seen the film at that point yet (too young) but was already hooked by the toy. I've never been disappointed. Even the worst of the films are a treasure to me, and Alien Isolation just went above & beyond everything it needed to do. Truly one of the great games. Applause for all of your videos as they are pro quality. Keep up the good work!
Great job bro. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
