This film really carved out his signature style due to it's non chronological storytelling and it's a movie that to this day still can leave you scratching your head. Throughout this video we're gonna be giving a big breakdown of what happens in it, the hidden details and also the easter eggs that make this one of the best movies the director has ever put out. Huge thank you for watching the video all the way through and if you want something else to watch then one of our other breakdowns will be linked on screen now. With that out the way thanks fo... Well it is memento so we have to go backwards and this is shown from the opening shot of the film. Here we see Leonards hand holding a polaroid picture which is fully developed. However as he shakes it it starts to blur and fade away because it's actually moving in reverse. This is very symbolic as it's also how Leonards memory works. In the movie we discover he has a condition that renders him unable to create short term memories. So to him the moment is crystal clear when it first happens and then it starts to fade like the polaroid we see here. Now this is actually the murder to Teddy who we see throughout the movie is actually a policeman that's using Leonard for his own personal gain. Memento is very much a revenge story on a number of levels and we see several characters that embody this. Leonard believes that his wife was killed by a man called John G and Teddy has weaponised this to make him his own personal assassin. Teddy has been framing people and then leaving breadcrumbs so that Leonard will track down this person and murder them. These tend to be high stakes dealers and thus Leonard makes off with the profits whilst Leonard thinks that he's caught his wifes killer for a couple of minutes. Unbelieveable.. got this video recommended, so I decided to watch the movie first and then come back to it later. Turns out you managed to fit twice as many facts into one video, than I even came close to realizing when watching it. To those calling it a bad movie, it's one of those movies you have to try *understand*, not just watch for entertainment, and your video really sheds much more light on it than I ever could on my own lol. Was constantly trying to look for the "different handwriting" from your thumbnail when watching it, but nothing really stood out.

One of my favorite movies ever! My favorite line was always "I can't remember to forget you."

11:57 When lenny gets the tatoo of the nunber plate, he says 7 I U but the tatoo actually ends up being 7 1 U and because he cant remember anything, he believes that 7 1 U is the truth, and 'remembers' that

At 5:00, how did Leonard remember that Teddy had called him Lenny before?

Memento: A story about a man lying to himself and having others lie to him.

Funny thing is that the "hero" of the movie is the only one that actually kills someone in the film and his killcount is at least 5: his wife's attacker, his own wife via overdose, the "imaginary second attacker" (whoever Gammel set him up to kill), Jimmy AND Gammel himself. Quite trippy if you think about it.

I don’t think I would have seen this film if my high school AP psychology teacher didn’t play it for us. Now it’s one of my favorites of all time.

This movie is so underrated. I wasn't even aware of it's existence until 2012. Definitely the best from Nolan

Not sure if this is common knowledge or if it’s overall unimportant, but the clock used in Memento was also used as a prop in Following. Idk something cool I noticed

He did not strike out "Do not trust her" because it was in different handwriting, he crossed it out because Teddy told him to write that and Teddy's picture says "Don't believe his lies" which makes him cross it out

In a flash back when Sammy’s wife was trying to help him with his memory Sammy says, “I’ve done something wrong.”, and she says, “well we’re going to deal with it. She then takes the notebook from him and she tries to get him to remember things throughout the day and write them down for him to look back on later.

It’s interesting that the “remember Sammy” notei s written in the same font as the unreliable note teddy made him write and he crosses out

all the flashy movies by Nolan, not saying those are bad, but memento will always be my favourite.. this is pure raw cinema with exceptional screenplay and direction

To me, Memento is a perfect film, and my favorite of all time. It's the only movie to ever pull off the "ambiguous ending" in a way I actually liked.
