The movie centres on the Haywoods trying to prove that there's an alien spacecraft visiting their farm but they unearth something much much weirder. The movie is based loosely on the legends of Skin walker ranch which is a hotsite for paranormal activity. Over the decades several UFOs have been said to have visited the location but the movie changes things up to make the creature a living UAP that feeds on horses and humans. Just in the same way that Peele laced a lot of hidden imagery throughout Get Out and Us...like this...look, they're wearing a US flag...NOPE has a lot of subliminal stuff too. Throughout this video we're gonna be breaking it all down but if this is your first time here, I'm your host Paul aka the guy who's theories make you go NOPE, now let's get into the video. For example when we go and visit Gordy's Home at one point in the movie we can see panavision cameras all titled as we approach the set. Later on at Jupiters Claim we see that he's selling alien toys and masks which have head shapes similar to the tops of the cameras. If you think that's a reach then it's also important to bear in mind that these masks are later used by his kids to frighten the Haywoods. What you might not have noticed is that they're also wearing Monkey Costumes calling back to Gordy's. Cameras appear throughout the movie and there's constant talks about the Oprah shot, the impossible shot and so on and so forth. We see as the Haywoods set up cameras around their home and throughout we actually very much get a history of the device with us going through several digital, film and analogue models. Elements of Jean Jacket are also based on a camera and after the title card pops up we travel through what we learn is it's mouth. This is built to look like one of the first ever cameras created and as we travel through the passage we see the first ever motion picture. I'm pretty certain the horse statue (with reflective eyes) is a nod to the creepy horse statue outside of Denver International Airport.

I don't know if anyone caught this in the movie, but the 5 chapters in the movie actually represent the 5 mysteries of the rosary. In the 5 mysteries, there are at least 5 significant words that foreshadow the plot of the story. Chapter 1: Ghost-Annunciation (When OJ sees Jean Jacket for the first time), Chapter 2: Clover-Visitation (When Jupe's sons arrive to prank OJ and Jean Jacket arrives with OJ seeing them for the first time), Chapter 3: Gordy-Birth (When Gordy's Home massacre occurs and leaving Jupe the only survivor of the incident where he falsely believes that he can tame animals, sparking the birth of the "spectacle"), Chapter 4: Lucky-Presentation (Where Jupe tries to present Jean Jacket to the audience, but it later goes wrong with JJ eating him and the crowd), and Chapter 5: Jean Jacket-Finding (Where the group tries to get the footage of Jean Jacket to claim their "find"). Also, in every mystery there is an important line and advice that always says; "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.", which is something the characters, besides OJ, should do when encountering Jean Jacket. In order to survive, you have to not give in to the temptation by not looking at JJ and you will live. And the "deliver us from evil" line is actually representing the evil in trying to get "the perfect shot", where you will go to any lengths to get the frame, even if it costs your life, and how it's not worth it.

Lucky didn’t die Because lucky is lucky It’s literally like a whole plot point in the movie He’s the only horse that lived

The pig is on the roof at the 'amusement' park for irony as 'pigs can't fly'. Also, the mirror helmet of the motorcyclist is just like the mirror globe that set off Lucky on the stage set. We saw OJ making a replica of this back at the ranch but I didn't see him use it. He was going to desensitize the horses to it so they wouldn't spook on set. The coins being regretted by the UAP symbolizes money from heaven and that it isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Even if the 'key' , like what got stuck in Ghost, is handed to you, you don't know what or where to use it.

this movie just felt like a jaws love letter once the creature reveal happens. The Haywood’s are like the sheriff reacting to what’s happening…angel is like Hooper… he wasn’t invited but wants to see it. Holst is Quint….a notorious pro, He even dies in a similar fashion. And Jupe is essentially the mayor who believes he can control the situation while not actually implementing any sort of control…. There’s plenty more things I don’t want to bother typing that others have……I loved it. And the music that plays during the OJ chase at 1:45:00….great time.

I believe Jupe's name is especially coming in as Jupiter, is also important. Not only is it a massive astral body, but it's the one that has the giant Eye. It can't stop staring, defying the one rule when working with possibly dangerous animals. Which is exactly what Jupe does. Also I believe the only creature to live through its title card was indeed Lucky. Finally, we hear OJ specifically mention that "You don't turn your back on bears, you don't show red next to bulls, and you don't look wild animals in the eye, or at Jean Jacket specifically period". What does Jupe do? Wears a red jacket, turns his back on it multiple times, and stares directly at it. Also Jean Jacket itself looks like an eye from the underneath so it would make sense that looking at it falls into looking animals in the eye. Such a brilliant film.

When Emerald was screaming, "Run OJ, Run!" I couldn't help but think of OJ Simpson running in those Hertz commercials in the 70s and during the white Bronco chase in the 90s. Speaking Broncos, there were horses all over this movie

The fist bump with Gordy, on a literal level, is due to his training on set to do just that. And because Jupe's eyes are veiled by the tablecloth, Gordy doesn't kill him. But on another level, I think Gordy is giving Jupe the fist bump to say to him, "We were being exploited and I took care of the problem," Jupe being given the role of a token Asian-American actor on a cheesy sitcom (think of how the fist bump is commonly used in as a "yeah, we did it!" sort of gesture). Jupe misunderstands Gordy's gesture: he never realizes he, too, was being exploited, and indeed ends up becoming one of the exploiters as an adult.

The title is best explained in one of the movie lines between OJ and Emerald: OJ: “is there a word for a bad miracle?” Emerald: “Nope!”

Great to see all the Easter egg clues that are posted. I’ve been wondering though if there isalso some reference and take away from 1958’s The Creeping Eye. Sometimes referred to as The Trollenberg Terror, the basic synopsis is that there are cyclopic aliens shrouded in a static cloud that never moves intentionally along the mountain that finally does start to come down and become confrontational to the people at ski resort.

Also, Antlers Holst's last name is likely a reference to the English composer Gustav Holst, who is famous for writing the orchestral suite "The Planets", which has acted as the inspiration for most sci-fi film scores-- especially John Williams' score for Star Wars.
