100 thumbs up
In Polish people tend to call a disabled person "inwalida" which obviously is not nice and means "invalid". That is definetely worse then just disabled
βPeople of determinationβ? The hell is this, Undertale?
I already left a reply on some one else's comment but I wanted to circle back for a mo... people of determination... it makes us sound... I don't even know the right words... but I don't love it. It sounds vagely like something said with the intentions of kindness but with a real condescending tone m... if that makes sense...
I agree, im mentally disabled (Autism and ADHD) and im not challenged, I am 100% disabled lol
I am disabled and have a lot of kondishes and it is challenging but i vind that disrespectful spread awareness instead of making names for us and judging us
I thought this was funny but my mom and my best friends mom and my boyfriend would get mad when anyone called me disabled/handicap and would quickly correct them by saying things like " she just can't see well " or " low sight " or " visually challenged " and than there i am embracing the label because its dimple and true
Intermediate challenging for you to know what you're doing
Sooo Iβm autistic would that mean that Iβm βfunkily brain challengedβ orβ¦?
My uncle has polio. He is 94 and he jokes "first I was crippled, then I was handicapped, then I was differently abled. Nothing has changed." He was a bank president for 40 years, has been married for almost 60 years with 2 kids. Polio was just an inconvenience. He was still Frank. A label didn't change that.
I would imagine there's plenty of irony in the fact that you have beautiful eyes......that don't work.
Whatβs in a name? That which we call a rose would seem as sweet, and βchallengedβ would she as little.
Saying challenged or people of determination means that they can have more reason to cut benefits and claim that it's perfectly acceptable to justify marriage inequality for the disabled
Yeah, education and truth is the only way out of really anything. Donβt try and make it seem like certain people donβt exist, or to view them In a different way. Take the facts, educate people, and then the people who are properly educated. Can form their own opinions. Whichβ¦ may or may not be wrong
Folks with privilege and good intentions say the wildest things.
I couldnβt agree more with this video
a lot of abled people seem to think the word disability is a slur and dont seem to listen to disabled communities at all regarding the topic. Those with disabilities are labeled as disabled because they are. It's not an insult, it is literally just because they are less abled in certain regards. It's a label, like any other label is a label. "People Of Determination" is insane too, I cannot believe that was real
I am now called a person with hearing challenge
I am disabled too so ya I understand
