My daughter as a 3 year old had speech issues and would watch Mr. Bean when they were first shown in the US, he helped her so much with her language development. She also developed a funny sense of humor.

favourite Rowan Atkinson? When he goes to paint the room by putting a firework in a pot of paint, light it and closes the door. Then remembers his hat on the mantlepiece, so he goes bacon and as he reaches for the hat the firework goes off. Then there's a white room with a silhouette of him stretching out and holding the hat. No dialogue, just pure slap stick.

I am like 90% sure he is a social introvert. He is very smart, well spoken, but understands outwards expression quite deeply and consciously. The mirror story was quite telling of such things

I Saw him as a serious detective and he was so good. Sometimes it's hard to see someone from an iconic roll as another character but he was so believable, such talent
Rowan once had to go to a house where a lady ran a service lending breast pumps for new mothers. Rowan was collecting for his wife. The lady tried to discretely let Rowan in and out but her children spotted him and screamed "It's Mr Bean. It's Mr Bean!!" Not sure who was most embarrassed.

My family moved to America from Russia in the late 90s. We could not quite understand Friends, but we understood the Mr. Bean very well. Of course, its very easy to understand, but we also felt something familiar because mischievous, physical comedy is popular across Europe and it felt like home.
Funny fact on that John Elton bit on the interview, in Elton's own autograph, he tells, when he got his title of "Sir", he was introduced to Her Majesty as Sir John Elton...

I grew up watching "Mr. Bean" as a 90s kid in America, and that's all I knew him as. Fast forward to 2009, I'm in college (uni for you Brits) and Netflix uploaded 30+ shows from the U.K for streaming, and among them was "Blackadder." Fam, that series was an absolute gem. I must have watched that series three times over. As a veteran and a history student, the ending of the last season (over the top) was the most beautiful, funny, and heartbreaking series finale I have ever seen. Shout out to Sir Rowan Atkinson. 👏👏👏
