I replaced the same front suspension section in Afghanistan. I was doing my maintenance inspections on all the equipment and noticed the same stress fractures. I replaced the entire front end with the green Army Issued mechanics toolbox, with the help of an Airforce mechanics one vehicle bay. We were on a shared SF base in Qalat and could see one of Alexander The Great’s Fortesses, Qalat Fortress (Bala Hissar). Love “Gatorade” John

The spring rate on that Humvee is around 2000 lbs/in. That is why you had such a challenging time with the ratchet straps getting things in place. Be careful being downwind of fumes when welding. The paint on military surplus Humvees are CARC. Chemical Agent Resistant Coating. While cured CARC is safe, disturbing it through sanding or welding releases toxic isocyanates and heavy metals. Creating awareness so you and others are safe out there.

After visiting Sand Hollow and renting one of Mad Moose's Razrs it's easy to see how accidents can happen. The terrain is wild and exciting to drive. It does take a bit of skill to handle these machines but it is so much FUN! You guys make it look so easy! Love the Donut Hole!
