You've reached the end
Humility is key to survive this spiritual world.
Obviously the man has been feeling disrespected and wanted to assert his dominance by making demands, and that also shows that the woman is arrogant.
This is shameful. Unforgiving attitude
The wife has more responsibility in the whole scenario. It seems the woman had likely being disrespectful and arrogant to her husband before this issue. In fact, the man's request for her apologies and the woman's refusal to say sorry says it all, that the man was being disrespected and the woman's level of arrogance.
Pride in its purest form
The comments on this issue honestly baffle me a little because we only heard one incident and still donβt know the full story. Marriage issues are rarely ever that black and white. From what weβve heard, both parties could have been wrong in different ways. It really does take two people to make a relationship work or break down. From the story, both of them work. Letβs assume they both went to work, came home tired, she still went to the kitchen to cook, and they ate. Yes, I agree she should have changed the water when she noticed it, but maybe in that moment she genuinely wasnβt thinking clearly because she was exhausted. She even said she was tired. Sometimes, sensitivity to your partner matters more than proving a point. If he had simply said, βOkay, thatβs fine, go and rest,β this whole thing might have ended there. We are human beings, not robots. People react badly when stressed, overwhelmed, or triggered. None of us is perfect. In my marriage, my husband and I both work demanding jobs. I cook more often, but whenever he notices Iβm exhausted, he buys food for us or steps in without making it a big issue. Sometimes I cook and dish the food while he carries the plates. Sometimes itβs the other way round. Sometimes Iβll even say, βAh babe, now that I brought the food, itβs you that will carry the plates o.β Itβs never about who is superior or who must always be served. Itβs about partnership, understanding, and helping each other through life. He even tells people that his wife works a demanding job, and to me, that is love and consideration. Of course we still have disagreements because every marriage does, but when both people are willing to understand each other, many issues donβt escalate unnecessarily. In this case, her husband then told her he didnβt like what she did and asked her to apologize the next day, but she refused and said she couldnβt say sorry. I wonβt lie, that was wrong too. Even when we feel justified, sometimes saying sorry is less about admitting full fault and more about choosing peace over ego. That refusal likely escalated things further and may have made him feel dismissed or disrespected. But at the same time, I still donβt think what followed was a healthy response. Changing the locks is a very extreme step. That felt extremely harsh and excessive to me. This is someone you married and promised to care for, yet she ended up sleeping in a hotel because she couldnβt enter her own home. How do you even sleep peacefully after that? That level of anger suggests there were already deeper unresolved issues in the marriage. The fact that she later tried to apologize and he still said it was βtoo lateβ makes it seem like he may have already emotionally checked out long before this incident happened. My take on this situation is that both of them contributed to the escalation, but what weβre seeing is likely just the surface of something deeper. Also, itβs important to note that he didnβt heed to the pastor that he is accountable to. Because normal disagreements donβt usually jump from a domestic issue to locking a spouse out of the home. That kind of reaction usually points to built-up resentment, emotional exhaustion, or repeated unresolved issues on both sides. As believers, we also have to remember that anger, pride, and unresolved resentment can destroy homes if we allow them to. Marriage is not about one person βwinning.β It is about grace, patience, accountability, and choosing each other even during difficult moments. Also, we canβt downplay the part of being sensitive to the devices of the devil. And while people keep talking about respect for men, I genuinely believe that when a husband loves his wife the way Christ instructed, many things naturally become easier in the home. Respect is important, yes, but true respect is not forced or commanded. It is built, nurtured, and earned through love, care, consistency, and mutual understanding
Why would the wife refuse to attend to the husband's need, she will do worse if unchecked. Pastors ruin things by trying to neutral rather than telling the truth to erring spouses.
Iβm a 60 years old lady and experience has taught me great lessons in life. So, in my opinion, the wife in question ought to have used common sense to change the water in the bowl after washing her hands from the oily meal π₯ they had because it was already messed up. You see, she even realised her mistake when it was already too late. Also, she was proud and arrogant, not willing to apologise as her husband demanded. No wonder thereβs a saying that goes thus: βPride goes before a fallβ. π₯Ήβ¬ οΈI come in peaceποΈ
This is what im facing in my home, my wife find it hard everytime to say sorry also to say thank you its a problem for her, it has caused a lot of issues between us but im not losing hope God is still on the throne.Amen π
I can tell the water wasnβt the root cause; it may have only exposed an already existing, unhealed wound. Don't they have children?
Pride destroys
What stopped the man from standing up to wash his hands
African men hmmm.π€
Most times we blame the devil for our self inflicted crisis, common sense demands that the woman would have gone to the kitchen to wash her own hands since the washing bowl is one and not two and she finished eating before her husband. It's very wrong for her to wash an oily hands in the bowl and expect her husband to use the same. If she is eating with her father or elder brother, would she wash her hands before them and leave the water for them to use. Until we start treating men like our fathers and elder brothers in marriage we will keep blaming the devil unnecessarily for our own pride. God gave us sense so we can think properly but common sense is not common at all.
The man would have just washed his hands as the wife said, may be later talk with the wife
Every person should know the kind of person he or she is married to and stick to what works for them without deviating. It is well. God help us
I DON'T SAY SORRY. (Thats a demon). There were more 'foundational' issues here, surely fragmentation was bound to happen. A curse just simply matured for activation.
Bible have said is all women honour your husband
Wfy is it that, during wedding ceremony.. the wife is usually very respectful and she kneels down to feed the husband But After marriage... No more Respect
Amen!
