Basically the point of Tolkien's elves and humans. Elves become masters of crafts over thousands of years, but a dedicated human can be nearly as good within a hundred.

I like the idea of elves being lowkey terrified of humans. The toddler with a sword can still kinda keep up with them in a fight.

What I think is even more interesting is the idea that elves are stunted in their ways because they're so old that they refuse to learn new tricks, because they've been doing the same things for thousands of years, which is why they're still using bows and arrows while the humans are learning how to make gunpowder and advancing their technology.

They may be masters who can shoot the wings off a fly, but a human only needs the skill to shoot an elf sized target, which while less impressive, is much easier to achieve.

Don't let elves forget that most of them dont learn to read until they are like.. 30 years old.

For some reason, this reminds me of that HFY story, where it's revealed Humanity is just the descendants of this super powerful, nigh-immortal race of psychic aliens, but a group of their kids got infected with a virus that made us die young and sexually develop fast and also prevented us from using our powers.

Yeah, and the babies usually get taught such ancient information. They're on a decent level

It reminds me of Templin Institute's pitch for their own Tyrel universe. It describes how Elven armies crossed the river to wage war on men, to face the grandsons of the soldiers they personally killed in the last war. Thats when the Elves were introduced to the MG13 Recoil-operated machine gun.

I imagine elves avoid a lot of fighting by just waiting for their opponents to die of old age. Also, this reminds me of Inter Species Reviewers where the elf character is in love with a wrinkly old lady, but she's only 80 years old, she's so young!

I like the D&D lore of humans which states that since they life for such a short time, they try to do every damn thing they can in that short lifespan, ans thus end up being one of the largest parts of the political scene due to the fact that they dont have time for chill.

I also like the elves (and the other races that live hilariously long) are typically way behind in terms of technical advancement, because when you live for hundreds of years in the woods just kissing leaves and shooting stupid arrows all day you don’t really have an incentive to innovate. Humans having no inherent magic, nor particularly long lives makes them unique in that they are the only race in magical worlds that are inherently incentivized to innovate and invent.

Then after another couple hundred years later, Going to war with humans again with bows and Pegasus's, But with more armor since they know that they can use bows too, But then Your friends start going down left and right with distant bangs being sounded out, And over the mountain are snipers with 2 squads with Revolvers and shotguns.

now see this from the perspective of the typical dark elf dexterous and precise elegant assassin you are trying to sneak in a castle built by babies to murder a baby noble, protected by other babies
