My GMC C7000 dump truck has the infamous 8.2L Detroit diesel engine. Unfortunately. It's not a great engine, but for now it works, so it seems like I should try and keep it working for as long as possible. But diesel fuel is getting into the crankcase in large quantities and diluting the oil, which is going to ruin the engine once and for all. Where is it coming from? Let's try and figure this out. I've watched all of Farmcraft's videos I think and this is by far the video with the most grunts that Jon has ever made. Greetings from the Philippines Jon. 😂😂
Excellent camera work! Thanks for going the extra mile just so we could see what was going on.
I feel the frustration, sympathies for the pain that anyone who has to deal with that engine will feel
Happy for you the rain came hopefully it was enough as for the truck looking forward to the next video lots of information in the comments good luck John 👍👋🇨🇦
SC here.... two plus months with zero rain... never seen anything like it.... talk to old timers... thia is nuts... we are on a severe spring drought coming off of a damn fall drought... 🔥🔥🔥
The good news is the rain. I always worry about the farmer. Also you learned many things, and are on your way to repairing your diesel.
North central Alberta Canada here we have had a dry spring here as well lots on small dugouts and sloughs have dried up last summer and fall Any of those we did we unhooked the good and propped it on a barrel and made more real estate (room)on top of engine You did well
I love your truck. It's a beauty. I sure want you to fix it. I can't help feel that fixing the injectors will also fix the horsepower. She never did sound quite right. I can hardly wait for your next video. I love your channel, Jon. Keep up the good work.
This brings back memories of my youth, especially when I was at tech school for Diesel Engine Repair. Got my certificate after 1 year. I remember working on this engine, as well as 2 stroke Detroit Diesels, 6V-53 and 6-71. My dad had 2 International S2200 trucks, both with 6V-92s in them. By the mid 90s, 2 stroke Detroits were being replaced by the Series 60 Engines, Cummins, and Caterpillars. Thanks for sharing!
Hey, didn't noticed before congratulations on 700k!
if the cylinder does not produce heat but get fuel, then the fuel is not burning and it has to go somewhere - either in the exhaust or past the piston into the crank case. You definitely have to dig into this - will be exiting to watch! Exactly what your channel is about.
Consider a fuel leak between the pump and the injector under the valve cover. Fuel being sprayed into the valve cover would cause loss of pressure on that bank. The injectors aren’t spraying enough fuel because it’s all flowing into the valve train.
Your videos are real life and I like how you show what normal people go through. I feel you on this.
I listened to your video while I was working on my car. Your comments about cramped design and extremely long bolts were timed perfectly as I skinned my knuckles. Take care.
The experts: "Unit injectors are a nightmare" FarmCraft101: "Content!" We appreciate you, looking forward to this next chapter.
Wow Jon! This is the point where I usually say to my "friends" telling me how stupid I was, "Oh and you have clairvoyance?" I guess it's a situation where you just don't know until you know thing and the only way to figure it out for yourself is to actually do the work. Empirical knowledge beats theoretical guessing every time. Kudos to you for sticking to it and producing content for us armchair mechanics to be able to jump out of our recliners and yell, "SCORE" when you figure a problem out. Thank you. Great video thumbs ups.
I admire your willingness to tackle the task at hand! Prayers for rain! Water, one of Man’s greatest needs! Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
True about the weather, I live in the UK which is notoriously cool at this time of year and yet here we are going through the warmest spring for more than 80 years.
I know it’s going to be a good day when a new farm craft vid is out…thanks Jon
JOHN, I am swearing at those bolts for you. I suspect many others are also. You have great perseverance!
