He Was Just Cleaning the Injectors... Then the Yeramba Started ITSELF

Steve and Dave take on one of the rarest vehicles in our collection — the Yeramba, Australia's only self-propelled gun. Built on an M3A5 Grant tank hull with a 25-pounder gun, only 13 were ever produced at the Ordnance Factory in Bendigo between 1950 and 1952. It remains the only self-propelled artillery ever introduced into Australian Army service. The mission is to fire up the twin Detroit Diesel 6-71 engines — but Dave gets more than he bargained for. While turning the engine over to free up the pistons, WD-40 that had been squirted into the injectors to clean them was enough to ignite and the engine started on its own. If the fuel system had been connected, this could have been a very different video. After that heart-stopping moment, the crew regroups, discovers a secret starter button, and manages to get both Detroits running properly — complete with a spectacular exhaust spark money shot to close things out.
