I’m pretty sure that’s my motor - she’s on ~175,000 miles and I was convinced the timing chain had never been changed. I’m doing my maintenance regularly but can’t make up for the years of abuse before me 😂 I found out after buying it that it is a finance recall and so was probably neglected. Since the lads did the work the car is running so much smoother and feels like a new car again. There are cheaper garages but the guys do an amazing job and I couldn’t recommend them more.

So sad .... I love diesel engines, but modern emissions regulations choke the life out of them 😢.

At what point would you call the customer and explain "yeah, we arent doing your chain, your entire engine is so full of shit, its probably gonna grenade in the next 10k. Come get it."?

BMW N47 and N57 are the best engines to work on. Very, very easy to work on. Everything is laid out very perfectly. Well, BMW in general are easy to work on cars, well engineered.
