BMW N47 and N57 are the best engines to work on. Very, very easy to work on. Everything is laid out very perfectly. Well, BMW in general are easy to work on cars, well engineered.

How does water get to the injectors like that? Some kind of head gasket or coolant pipe in the vicinity leak? I wish that had been mentioned.

People at my work always ask me how my old Peugeot 106 keeps going... Ive always said if you do your services regularly & not leaving it until next week (which turns out to be a year or 2 for some of them) then you wont really have many problems apart from regular Maintinance. Do the Chain or belt at the right intervals provided by the cars manual handbook. Then you basically wont have mamy problems unless your driving habits are shocking. Had a lad in work ask why his 2017 Insignia is running on 3 cylinders & sounds like a bag of nails. "Well, it's because you get in the car, start it up & put it in gear within 15 seconds & go on your merry way like it's nothing) give your Engine time to circulate the oil up to the head ensuring everything is lubricated properly. Turns out he blew his turbo seals & cracked a sleeve in the cylinder, also fucked his injector & dammaged a fuel rail. 6g's later its back running like a dream. But yet he is doing his same old habits & driving off within seconds. Give it 6 months before it's back in the garrage & asking me why the car is being the way it is. Anyway to anyone who reads this, just do the regular maintenance. Another top tip, service your car just before summer starts & then just before winter starts. Best way to keep your car running for 23 years & more. Mines a french TU engine too.

Looks like it has spent its life running cold, (half mile to the shops) not too much servicing going on either.

I think the internal combustion engine crested a while back, and is now on a downward trajectory. Who would buy a new one nowadays?
